  1. Job listings for veterinarians have surged 124% over the past three years, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the role will grow by an additional 19% over the next nine years, according to Indeed job site. This is much faster than the average 4% expected growth for all other occupations. Median annual salary was $140,000 for the year, and the number of job postings per 1 million total jobs was 1,065.

Twenty-two percent of dog owners and 26% of cat owners are vaccine hesitant regarding their pets, according to research by Simon Haeder, associate professor of public health, Texas A&M University. “From a public health perspective, low vaccination rates for pets are just as concerning as those for humans.”
  1. The FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine is soliciting comments from the public, particularly veterinarians, related to the use of cannabis-derived products (CDP) in animals. The focus is on cannabidiol (CBD) products and other products derived from hemp. The agency is interested in usage trends (e.g., product selection, indications, etc.), quality standards, benefits of use, potential drug interactions, adverse events and safety problems, and toxicological concerns. The comment period ends April 16, 2025.
