  1. Elanco Animal Health has obtained exclusive U.S. licensing rights for Bovaer, Royal DSM’s methane-reducing feed additive. The product has been approved in Europe, Brazil, Chile and Australia for beef and dairy cattle and is awaiting U.S. approval.
  1. Merck’s animal health division saw $1.48 billion in sales in the first quarter of 2022, a 4% increase from the prior year (9% excluding impact from foreign exchange). Companion animal sales grew 9% (13% excluding impact from foreign exchange), reaching $650 million driven by the Bravecto parasiticide line and vaccines. Livestock sales were up 2% (7% excluding impact from foreign exchange), reaching $832 million reflecting higher demand globally for ruminants and poultry products.
  1. Synchrony-owned Pets Best Insurance Services announced it has reached its 500,000th pet insured. Spurred by an increase in pet adoptions during the pandemic and a digital shift toward curbside and virtual appointments, Pets Best says it has invested in “new, technology-driven features that improve and simplify the customer experience.”
